The International Conferences on Conceptual Structures (ICCS) have been held annually in Europe, Australia, and North America since 1993. Their focus is on the formal analysis and representation of conceptual knowledge with applications to artificial intelligence, computational linguistics, and related areas of computer science.
The ICCS conferences evolved from a series of seven annual workshops on conceptual graphs, starting with an informal gathering hosted by John Sowa in 1986. For the seventh CG workshop in 1992, the informal workshop notes were upgraded to reviewed and edited proceedings published in the Springer-Verlag series of Lecture notes in Artificial Intelligence.
In 2014 the ICCS conference will be held in Iasi, Romania at the Al. I. Cuza University, the oldest higher education institution in Romania. The university was founded one year after the establishment of the Romanian state in 1860. Iasi has a long tradition in higher education and has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Romanian social, cultural, academic and artistic life.
The 3rd Annual European Semantic Web Conference will be held in Budva, Montenegro from the 11th - 14th June, 2006. It will present the latest results in research and application in Semantic Web technologies (including knowledge markup languages, Semantic Web services, ontology management and more).
ESWC 2006 will also feature a special industry-oriented event providing European industry with an opportunity to become even more familiar with these technologies. It will offer a tutorial program, focusing on the latest in Semantic Web technologies.
ESWC 2006 is co-located with a meeting of the Knowledge Web network of excellence . Workshops and meetings of other European Commission 6th Framework Programme projects involved in the Semantic Web and Semantic Web technologies will be able to showcase their developments. ESWC 2006 is sponsored by ESSI (formerly SDK), a group of four European Commission 6th Framework Programme projects known as SEKT, DIP, Knowledge Web and ASG. Collectively these projects aim to improve world-wide research and standardisation in the areas of the Semantic Web and Semantic Web Systems.
To help researchers investigate relation extraction, we’re releasing a human-judged dataset of two relations about public figures on Wikipedia: nearly 10,000 examples of “place of birth”, and over 40,000 examples of “attended or graduated from an institution”. Each of these was judged by at least 5 raters, and can be used to train or evaluate relation extraction systems. We also plan to release more relations of new types in the coming months.
