Today we released BibSonomy 2.0.29 which includes some smaller updates that nevertheless might help you a lot: * The tag search now supports the "but not" negation, i.e., you can search for posts that have some tags but not some other tags using the system tag sys:not:TAG. For example, you can get all posts that have the tag folksonomy but not the tag bookmarking by searching for folksonomy+sys:not:bookmarking. * Firefox and Chrome add-ons now replace the well-known bookmarklets - you can get them from the buttons page. * We included tag autocompletion on some places, including the editTags page and at the quick tag editor in post lists. * We made the layout using less space on your screen (reload the page with Shift-F5 to see the effect). * The QR code scanner is now also available to post publications.Release 2.0.29
* Support of complex tag queries: Up to now, we did not answer tag queries with 10 or more tags for performance reasons. With this release, this has changed, now also larger numbers of tags can be queried. For the techies: We've solved the performance issue using Lucene in the background
* CSL via REST-API: Since our last release, we're offering a new export format for publications, namely formatted according to the Citation Style Language. This format is now also available via our API by appending the parameter ?format=csl
New export format based on the Citation Style language (CSL)
Within discussions, particular publications can be referenced (VERY cool feature, we'll explain this in detail soon...)
Repaired Scrapers (SpringerLink, CiteSeer, WorldCat, Spires IEEEExplorer, PubMed, ScienceDirect)
Page load speed improvements by compressed CSS files
For those of you wondering what relations are and how to use them:
In BibSonomy, a relation consists of two tags, SUBTAG -> SUPERTAG. On the relations-page you'll find e. g. the following relation: 'algebra' -> 'mathematics'. It means that 'mathematics' is the supertag (also called a concept) of 'algebra', and the relation could be read as 'algebra is a subdiscipline of mathematics'.
You can define and manage your own relations on the edit_tags-page. Or you can enter a relation in the tag field while posting or editing a bookmark/publication. Just use SUBTAG->SUPERTAG (without any white space) as a tag.
You can speed up searching in BibSonomy considerably by creating some
smart keywords in your Firefox webbrowser.
Afterwards, you can access all your posts with a certain tag with just some keystrokes. This blog post explains how to do this.
If you are regularly attaching PDF documents to your publication posts you have probably already seen it: since quite a while BibSonomy renders a preview image for each uploaded document. A large version is shown whenever you hover with the mouse over a link to the document. For one selected document of each post a small preview is also shown in in the post lists of your personal pages.
