Von Google etwas Neues über das Internet zu hören würde kaum jemanden überraschen. So verwundert es nicht, dass HTML5 und Video auf der I/O Hauptthemen waren. Richtig Gas gibt die Firma mit Android – und mit dem auf der Konferenz vorgestellten Google TV will sie ins Wohnzimmer. Googles I/O ist als Entwicklerkonferenz angelegt. "I/O" möchte Google als "Innovation in the Open" verstanden wissen, nicht etwa als simplen Input/Output. Alle Sessions wurden auf Video aufgezeichnet und sind bei YouTube zu finden. Die beiden Keynotes übertrug die Firma erstmals live über das Video-Portal. So kamen zu den 5000 Teilnehmern noch 24.000 Zuschauer aus aller Welt hinzu.
