The Visualization Toolkit (VTK) is an open-source, freely available software system for 3D computer graphics, image processing and visualization. VTK consists of a C++ class library and several interpreted interface layers including Tcl/Tk, Java, and Python.

You can do that with the assembly plugin too, but that will just unpack all dependencies together with your classes in one directory and then repack that directory into a new jar. Doing it that way means files will overwrite each other if they have the same names in the same path, which is quite common with resources such as log4.properties and even other more important files.
With onejar-maven-plugin, you'll instead get a nice clean super jar with the dependency jars inside.
The Animal Sniffer Plugin is used to build signatures of APIs and to check your classes against previously generated signatures. Hibernate Annotations is my preferred way to map my entity classes, since they don't require any external file (thus keeping mapping info in your Java files), is fully integrated with all Hibernate mapping capabilities and Hibernate documentation encourages us to use this kind of configuration because it's more efficient.

Swing Explorer is a tool for Swing developers intended for visual exploring of Swing-based application internals. It finds all windows in explored Swing application and displays their component hierarchies as a tree. Each component in the tree can be displayed in the Swing Explorer's work area and visually inspected. Swing Explorer helps to determine sub-components when user moves mouse over them and provides additional information about currently selected component (layout, size, coordinates, border and other things). Additionally it allows to view basic graphical operations used to draw swing components like DebugGraphics does, but in more convenient way.
