Pierfilippo Asirelli sends poems with religious subjects to Johanna von Habsburg-de' Medici, one of which is a scene in which the Angel Gabriel greets the Virgin. Asirelli mentions poems sent previously, including one concerning "the stupendous miracle of the Virgin of San Giovanni Valdarno". He requests that the literary experts at Johanna's court compare his works with those of the celebrated Mantuan poet "Vicca" to judge which are superior. [The text of Asirelli's "De lamentatione christi in cruce pendentis" follows on folios 252-253]
