Handelsabkommen mit Kanada stößt kurz vor geplanten Unterzeichnung auf Gegenwehr: In mehreren europäischen Ländern haben am Samstag tausende Menschen gegen das umstrittene Freihandelsabkommen zwischen der EU und Kanada (Ceta) demonstriert. "Die europäischen Regierungen müssen heute die Ablehnung ihrer Bevölkerungen hören", erklärte die Anti-Globalisierungsbewegung Attac, die sich an der Organisation der Proteste beteiligte.
In den nächsten Monaten müsse noch "hart verhandelt werden", wenn das Freihandelsabkommen TTIP zwischen Europa und den USA überhaupt zustande kommen soll. Das sagt Außenminister Frank-Walter Steinmeier im ZDF. "Die Zeit wird jedenfalls sehr knapp."
Demokraten gegen Obama: Gegner eines europäisch-amerikanischen Freihandelsabkommens erhalten nun Unterstützung von den Demokraten im US-Kongress, darunter einer von Obamas wichtigsten Verbündeten. Auch in Europa formiert sich Widerstand.
