Die Europaabgeordnete Martina Michels, stellvertretendes Mitglied im EP-Kulturausschuss (CULT), kommentiert angesichts der Zustimmung des Europaparlaments zu EU-relevanten Teilen des CETA-Abkommens:
Nach drei Jahren des Ringens weiß kaum noch jemand, ob das Freihandelsabkommen TTIP kommt oder nicht: Wir ziehen Bilanz zu einer angekündigten Superstruktur, die auch die Kulturwelt überfordert.
Der Deutsche Kulturrat, der Spitzenverband der Bundeskulturverbände, hält den ausverhandelten CETA-Vertragstext für nicht zustimmungsfähig. CETA ist ein umfassendes Abkommen, das kanadischen Unternehmen weitreichenden Zutritt auf den europäischen Güter- und Dienstleistungsmarkt auch im Kultur-, Bildungs-, Wissenschafts- und Medienbereich ermöglicht.
In Bezug auf Nettesheim: Dem Kulturbereich im CETA-Abkommen wurde kein eigenständiger und angemessener Raum verschafft und zwischen der Programmatik der Präambel und den konkreten operativen Bestimmungen besteht bewusst eine Differenz.
Während Automobilzulieferer zum Beispiel von TTIP profitieren würden, gebe
es für den Kulturbetrieb keinen bekannten positiven Effekt. Das meint
Matthias von Hartz, Leiter des Festivals "Foreign Affairs", und kritisiert
die mangelnde Transparenz der Verhandlungen.
Auch in Frankfurt warnen Kulturschaffende vor den Gefahren des Freihandelsabkommens TTIP. Sie befürchten, dass öffentliche Alimentierung als wettbewerbsverzerrend interpretiert wird.
Jüngst gab die Bundesregierung noch Entwarnung – jetzt räumt sie ein: Dank Ceta und TTIP könnten künftig Verlage oder Museen vor Schiedsgerichte gezogen werden.
Sind Literatur und Live-Musik banale Handelsgüter? Deutschlands Kulturschaffende sind besorgt, dass TTIP die Kultur von ihrem geschützten Podest stoßen wird. Sie protestieren am Tag der Kulturellen Vielfalt.
150 Musiker von deutschen Orchestern wollen an diesem Montag (4.5.) im Mainzer Schlosshof mit Beethovens «Ode an die Freude» auf die Auswirkungen von Handelsabkommen aufmerksam machen.
Wenn Handelsbeschränkungen fallen, winken neue Jobs und bessere Geschäfte für Unternehmen. Kritikern zufolge fallen diese Effekte bei dem geplanten Abkommen zwischen der USA und der EU nur gering aus. Sie befürchten vielmehr unerwünschte Nebenwirkungen.
In Washington hat die fünfte Runde der Gespräche über das Freihandelsabkommen TTIP begonnen. Nicht nur Verbraucherschützer, auch Kulturschaffende befürchten erhebliche Nachteile durch den geplanten Handelsvertrag.
Kulturstaatsministerin Monika Grütters warnt: Kultur, Medien und Urheberrecht müssten explizit aus dem transatlantischen Freihandelsabkommen TTIP ausgeklammert werden - sonst würden diese Bereiche schnell zur schnöden Handelsware verkommen, vergleichbar der Gefrierkost. Für die Politikerin steht sogar "unsere Identität als Kulturnation" auf dem Spiel.
