Unter verkleideter Literatur sind solche Druckschriften zu verstehen, die auf ihren Titelblät-tern über den Inhalt des Druckes, über die Verfasserschaft und/oder über die Umstände des Erscheinens irreführende Angaben machen und damit die wahren Sachverhalte „verkleiden“. Gewöhnlich wird auch der Fall, dass gar keine Angaben gemacht und der wahre Sachverhalt verschwiegen wird, zur verkleideten Literatur gerechnet.

While the seed of the emblem as a genre was sown in Germany in 1531, it flowered and developed in France during the 16th century, and it was from there that it spread throughout Europe.
