Owing to the present trend towards increasing costs, a high degree of rationalization is necessary.
Under special circumstances, the foundation work of overhead transmission lines can be mechanized
to a great extent. In this way, the total expenses and particularly the share of wages can be reduced.
With reference to practical experience, it is demonstrated how far mechanization can be forced in a
densely populated European country and how the economy may be increased by using special piles.
Following a description of the design and construction of such piles, the use of appropriate equipment
is given, together with a comparison between today's costs and those of 25 years ago.
In this report, a trend is shown which could also be of interest to other countries.
For other designs of foundation than described in this report the mechanization may be performed
in a similar way with corresponding savings.
