L’objectiu d’aquest article és resseguir en l’essencial la història de l’epitafi
del mim Vital, un text en la transmissió del qual conflueixen, d’una banda,
el testimoni epigràfic, recuperat parcialment a començaments del segle xx,
i, d’una altra, una doble tradició manuscrita: la dels anomenats Disticha o
Dicta Catonis, a recer dels quals arribarà el mim Vital a Barcelona, i la de la
col·lecció manuscrita de tituli romans que avui coneixem com a sylloge Centulensis.
Altrament, de la complexa via de transmissió de l’epigrama, no se’n
pot dissociar una trajectòria editorial també llarga i enrevessada, inserta en la
tradició feraç on s’originen i s’entrellacen els camins de l’Anthologia Latina i
dels Poetae Latini minores., This article traces the history of the epitaph of the mime Vitalis. The text
depends on an epigraphic witness, partially recovered at the beginning of the
20th century, and a twofold manuscript tradition. On the one hand, we have
the tradition of the so–called Disticha or Dicta Catonis, according to which
the mime Vitalis arrived in Barcelona. On the other hand, there is the manuscript
collection of Roman tituli known today as sylloge Centulensis. This article also takes into account the long and complex editorial history of the
epitaph, situated at the productive crossroads of the Anthologia Latina and
the Poetae Latini minores., Humanidades
