In this paper, a power aware routing algorithm called Dynamic path switching is proposed which attempt to extend the lifetime of network in MANET. It creates a new path based on the energy level of the nodes. Along with DPS the Transmission power control technique is incorporated which varies the transmission power based on the distance. It reduces power consumption further. The proposed techniques are incorporated in Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) and simulated by using NS-2 simulator to obtain the QOS parameters
