Abstract
Electrical utilities all over the world are making increasing use
of composite insulators as an alternative to insulators made of
porcelain or glass. Compared with conventional insulators
they offer several considerable advantages: lower weight,
better electrical properties due to hydrophobicity, less sensitivity
to breakage and vandalism due to their high elasticity and
improvedenviromental compatibility of overhead trans-mission
lines due to their slenderness.
