La web 2.0 ha implicado personalmente a científicos e investigadores en la comunicación de la Ciencia, especialmente gracias a los blogs. Pese a la importancia de estas herramientas para la divulgación científica, los estudios sobre ellas se han centrado casi únicamente en la esfera anglosajona obviando el escenario hispanoparlante. Esta investigación ha aplicado un análisis de contenido a 100 entradas de los 10 blogs científicos más populares de la blogosfera hispana según el último certamen “Bitácoras 2013”. Se han analizado los rasgos lingüísticos y retóricos presentes en estas entradas, así como las fuentes utilizadas en ellas.
Finalmente, también se ha determinado el tipo de funciones (explicación, información u opinión) pretendidas en cada caso. De este modo se concluye que los blogs sobre Ciencia en castellano representan un género hibrido entre lo académico y lo divulgativo.
