The Colleges and Universities 2000 (C&U 2000) study was funded in 2000 by the National Science Foundation. The purpose of the study is to investigate patterns of continuity and change in American four-year colleges and universities over the period 1970 to 2000.

El Gobierno Nacional ha empezado el proceso de saneamiento del sistema de educación superior para exigir calidad, eficiencia y responsabilidad de las universidades públicas y privadas.
Algunas de las universidades privadas con sede en Mendoza ya comenzaron a publicar el valor de las inscripciones y de las cuotas mensuales. Si bien no todas aún lo han definido, algunas anunciaron incrementos, mientras otras decidieron congelar y hasta bajar las cuotas de determinadas carreras. Estrategias comerciales y compromiso con la comunidad educativa son algunas de las apuestas que provocan por estas horas diversas reacciones entre el alumnado.
No es la SGAE pero también cuenta con inspectores y éstos tienen en el punto de mira a las universidades españolas como gran foco de distribución de contenidos protegidos por derechos de autor. El Centro Español de Derechos Reprográficos (Cedro, entidad que representa a unos 17.000 autores y a más de 1.500 editores) sugiere acciones legales inminentes contra los responsables universitarios si no regularizan la difusión masiva de todo tipo de obras: literarias, científicas, técnicas...
