In Kambodscha und Bangladesch sind Textilarbeiter erneut gegen ihre schlechten Arbeitsbedingungen auf die Straße gegangen. Die Polizei setzte Tränengas, Gummigeschosse und teilweise auch scharfe Munition ein. In Phnom Penh wurde eine Frau erschossen.
In den Trümmern der eingestürzten Textilfabrik in Bangladesch haben Helfer offenbar T-Shirts der Firma Kik gefunden. Das Unternehmen erklärte, man habe die Zusammenarbeit 2008 beendet. Doch es wäre nicht das erste Mal, dass Kik wegen seiner Praktiken in der Kritik steht.
In Bangladesch sind bei einem Feuer in einer Textilfabrik mindestens 120 Menschen ums Leben gekommen. Nach Angaben der Behörden gibt es mehr als 200 Verletzte. Die Arbeiter waren in den oberen Etagen des neunstöckigen Fabrikgebäudes nahe der Hauptstadt Dhaka eingeschlossen.
