Mit Rich Snippets können Webmaster von Websites mit strukturiertem Content, etwa mit Beurteilungsportalen oder Branchenverzeichnissen, ihren Content kennzeichnen. Anhand dieser Kennzeichnung wird klar, dass jeder Textkörper mit einer Kennzeichnung einen bestimmten Datentyp darstellt, zum Beispiel einen Restaurantnamen, eine Adresse oder eine Bewertung.
