Luis Soriano fängt an zu schwitzen. Unter der unbarmherzigen Sonne Kolumbiens schnallt er seinen Eseln Alfa und Beto zwei Taschen auf den Rücken. Auf ein Schild hat er mit blauer Farbe das Wort "Biblioburro" geschrieben, "Bücheresel". Mit einer ganzen Ladung Bücher, die er auf den Rücken der Tiere gepackt hat, macht er sich auf in die Dörfer, um den Menschen etwas zu lesen zu bringen. Seit zehn Jahren wiederholt sich dieses Ritual an fast jedem Wochenende im kriegsmüden Hinterland von Kolumbien.
