Blogger Arne Hoffmann möchte mit seinem Zehn-Punkte-Plan "unsere Söhne retten". Leider fehlt ihm dabei das nötige Gender-Bewusstsein. Die Welt wird er so nicht verbessern
Tom, dem „Fahnder“ Martin Lindow eine große Portion Unsicherheit hinter routinierter Anpassung mitgibt, lernt zufällig die Bibliothekarin Helen kennen. Deren forciert-witzige Art, mit ihren Gewichtsproblemen umzugehen, zieht ihn in ein Gespräch, das er eigentlich nicht will. Über ein paar gemeinsame Interessen und viel Neues, dass er mit ihr erfahren kann, entwickelt sich bei Tom das Gefühl von Freiheit in ihrer Gesellschaft, aus dem Verliebtheit wird. Helen ist zunächst skeptisch, erkennt dann hinter seiner Naivität echte Gefühle und öffnet sich ihm ganz.
Aufgeblättert Lichtjahre trennen Israel Armstrongs Leben im Dörfchen Tumdrum in Antrim von dem, das er in London geführt hat. Trotzdem ist der etwas eigenbrötlerische und weltfremde Bibliothekar mit seiner Situation im nördlichsten Nordirland zufrieden. Der Büchereibus, den er fährt, ist zwar eine Rostlaube und der Literaturgeschmack seiner Kunden zutiefst erschütternd, aber dafür umgibt ihn eine Postkartenidylle.
Israel Armstrong hat einen sehr auffälligen Namen, wird ständig danach gefragt und lebt als Engländer in der irischen Provinz. Als Bibliothekar. Bibliothekar einer fahrenden Bücherei. So langsam wird einem das ganze Ausmaß dieses Dramas schon deutlicher, nicht wahr?
Die Autorin, die halbtags als Bibliothekarin arbeitet, geht davon aus, dass ihr Manuskript schon Anfang der 90er Jahre hätte fertig werden können, wäre da ein Verlag gewesen, der sie ermutigt hätte. So aber schob sie das Projekt ziellos vor sich her. Und als dann endlich der kleine, christliche Brendow-Verlag im niederrheinischen Moers Interesse anmeldete, musste plötzlich alles viel zu schnell gehen.

Der Beitrag von DAGMAR EICHBERGER (Heidelberg) leitete in die frühe Neuzeit über. Unter dem Titel „Una libreria per donne assai ornata et riccha. Frauenbibliotheken des 16. Jahrhunderts zwischen Ideal und Wirklichkeit“ ging es um weiblichen Buchbesitz. Im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert habe es unzählige Frauen gegeben, die einzelne Bücher besaßen, aber nur wenige, die sich den Luxus einer eigenen Bibliothek hätten leisten können. Margarete von Flandern, Isabella von Kastilien und Margarete von Österreich taten dies auf Grund ihrer hervorgehobenen sozialen Stellung und ihres persönlichen Reichtums. Humanisten wie Erasmus von Rotterdam und Juan Luis Vives äußerten sich in ihren Schriften zu weiblicher Bildung und Gelehrsamkeit und verknüpften das kontrovers diskutierte Thema mit Fragen weiblicher Moral und dem sich wandelnden Rollenverständnis von Mann und Frau.
Paul Raabe, Deutschlands bekanntester Bibliothekar, wie der Verlag ihn nicht zu Unrecht nennt, leitete im Laufe seiner Karriere das Deutsche Literaturarchiv Marbach, die Herzog-August-Bibliothek, war Direktor der Franckeschen Stiftungen in Halle und Mitglied des Stiftungsrates der Klassik Stiftung Weimar.
das ansonsten nicht unbedingt auf der Agenda der LeserInnen von Popzeitschriften stehen dürfte, wie der soeben erschienene zweite Teil der Erinnerungen der jüdischen Auschwitz-Überlebenden und Literaturwissenschaftlerin Ruth Klüger "Unterwegs verloren". Bemerkenswert ist auch, was das Magazin vermeidet, nämlich nach Art neuer deutscher Alphamädchen auf die ältere Schwester einzuprügeln. Dennoch fielen die ersten Reaktionen in den etablierten Presseerzeugnissen zu einem nicht geringen Teil negativ aus - ungerechtfertigterweise, wie man sagen darf. E
nder ohne Ende oder Was vom Manne übrigblieb“ ist eine brillante, kenntnisreiche Bloßstellung des 130 Jahre alten Feminismus und seiner Gegenwartssumpfblüte des Gender Mainstreaming – seit Ende der 90er Jahre Leitprinzip internationaler und deutscher Politik mit einzigartiger gesellschaftlicher Durchschlagskraft.
Ein Skandalroman, wie er im Buche steht, ist Salwa Al Neimis Debüt "Honigkuss". Ein bisschen die arabische Version von Charlotte Roches "Feuchtgebiete". Beide Bücher verbindet nicht nur der pinkfarbene Umschlag, sondern vor allem das Thema: die weibliche Sexualität. Für noch mehr Aufregung sorgt jedoch, dass die Honigkuss-Hauptfigur, die zwischen blumigen Zitaten aus den arabischen Erotikklassikern ziemlich unverblümt ein Loblied auf die (eigene) Lust singt, eine Muslima ist. Eine verheiratete dazu. Was die Heldin nicht davon abhält, ihre amourösen Abenteuer mit wechselnden Liebhabern auszuleben. Als "sexuelle Intifada" bezeichneten einige arabische Literaturkritiker das Werk prompt.
uweilen amüsant zu lesen und leisten einen Beitrag zur Debatte, aber unbedingt notwendig sind sie nicht, um die Perspektive der heute 30-Jährigen kennenzulernen.
