Es hat recht lange gedauert, bis die Verhandlungen um das geplante EU-US-Freihandelsabkommen (TTIP) die Aufmerksamkeit der breiten Öffentlichkeit gefunden
Große US-Konzerne sitzen in der ersten Reihe in den Verhandlungen zum Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement (TPP). Das zeigt eine Liste von E-Mails zwischen den Beamten des United States Trade Representative (USTR) und großen Unternehmen sowie Organisationen.
Das geplante Freihandelsabkommen zwischen den USA und Europa (TTIP) birgt mehr Gefahren als Vorteile. Die Verhandlungen verlaufen genauso geheim wie bei ACTA. Das sagt der Londoner Journalist Glyn Moody im Carta-Interview (see below for English version).

Das Transatlantische Freihandelsabkommen (TTIP) zwischen den USA und der EU soll bald unter Dach und Fach sein. Es sieht vor, dass die Unterzeichnerstaaten ihre Gesetze den darin enthaltenen Vorgaben anpassen. Kritiker befürchten ein Untergraben des Verbraucherschutzes. Die Verhandlungspartner beschwichtigen indes, es werde keine Senkung der Sicherheitsstandards geben.
Europa und Kanada verhandeln über das Handelsabkommen CETA, das auch Regelungen zum Urheberrecht enthält. Jetzt wurde ein weiterer Entwurf bekannt. Spektakuläre Enthüllungen bietet er nicht, liefert aber wichtige Details. Für Deutschland würde sich demnach wahrscheinlich kaum etwas ändern – für andere Länder ist das durchaus möglich.
Über das geplante EU-USA-Freihandelsabkommen wird zwar viel diskutiert. Die Frage, ob die EU überhaupt die nötige Rechtsetzungskompetenz hat, bleibt jedoch meist unberücksichtigt. Felix Ekardt meint, dass neben den Organen der EU auch die nationalen Parlamente in die Ratifikation einbezogen werden müssten. Darüber allerdings könnte das Abkommen kippen.
Die dritte Verhandlungsrunde wird von einem wahren "Shitstorm" im Netz begleitet. Auslöser waren abfällige Äußerungen der Kommission gegenüber Konsumentenschützern.
Ein Ausschnitt aus dem Entwurfstext für ein Freihandelsabkommen zwischen der EU und Kanada ist aufgetaucht. Es geht um Regelungen zum geistigen Eigentum.
Eine Freihandelszone mit den USA könnte viele neue Jobs schaffen. Dafür müssten die Verhandlungen aber offen und transparent sein. Brüssel scheint dazu nicht bereit. (Ein Gastbeitrag von Eveline Lemke, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen)
