Dave Thomas, Skeptical Inquirer Volume 35.4, July/August 2011: "After ten years, the pesky 911 Truth movement has refined its arguments but still hasnt proved the attacks were an inside job. Their key claims are refuted on multiple grounds."
On "the Verizon and Fiterman Hall structures": "In actuality, it twisted and tilted over to one side as it fell, and parts of the building severely damaged two neighboring buildings (the Verizon and Fiterman Hall structures). When challenged with the obvious fact that Tower 7 spilled far outside its footprint,..."
By Adam Taylor ... "Editor’s Note: This is Part 8 (see Part 7) of an extensive report by 9/11 researcher Adam Taylor that exposes the fallacies and flaws in the arguments made by the editors of Popular Mechanics (PM) in the latest edition of their book Debunking 9/11 Myths. "... "PM notes that the rubble pile was not exactly “neat,” since nearby structures such as the Fiterman Hall and the Verizon Building were structurally damaged by debris from Building 7. While it is true there was damage to surrounding structures, this may have simply been due to the fact that WTC7 was a particularly large structure... [...] In fact, the FEMA report had this to say about Building 7’s debris pile:
“The collapse of WTC 7 had a small debris field as the facade was pulled downward, suggesting an internal failure and implosion… The average debris field radius was approximately 70 feet." (Jfr. http://911research.wtc7.net/mirrors/fema_wtc/fema403_ch5.pdf )

A few days ago, Elsevier proposed a first offer for a nationwide licence. The publisher rejects more transparent business models that are based on the publication service and would make publications more openly accessible. Its offer does not comply with the principles of Open Access. Despite its current profit margin of 40 percent, the publisher is still intent on pursuing even higher price increases.
Therefore, the negotiations had to be interrupted. The Alliance of Science Organisations in Germany rejects Elsevier’s offer (PDF 25 KB). As a consequence, no access to full texts of Elsevier journals is expected to be available from 1 January 2017 o
Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records FAQ: "If FRBR is not a data model, what is it then? Rather a conceptual reference model. One of the primary objectives in developing it was "to provide a (...) framework for relating the data that are recorded in bibliographic records to the needs of users of those records" (FRBR Final Report, sec. 2.1) and for assessing their actual relevance."

Giddens feels that there is a huge disparity between the reality of climate change and the political and economic response. As well as system-level change, the situation needs action below the level of the nation state, he explained, with activists and civil society taking steps worldwide to obtain change on the ground, as the Transition Towns movement tried, for example. "The United Nations (UN) has lost a lot of influence, so we will need to look to states and groups of states," he said.
