Changing Our Lives, a rights-based organisation that work in partnership with people with disabilities and mental health needs, recently issued a Quality of Life Review detailing the work achieved by Shropshire Council’s employment service, Enable.
Enable, Shropshire Council’s supported employment service, have been awarded a grant to help vulnerable people into employment through the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) programme, funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund.
The UK Recovery Walk 2018 will be held in Shrewsbury from 11am on Saturday 8 September 2018, when more than 5,000 individuals and families are expected to walk through the centre of the town to celebrate the event. The walk, organised by Faces and Voices of Recovery (FAVOR UK), is held every September as part of International Recovery Month.

NHS managers are visiting Shropshire Council’s mental health employment service Enable on Tuesday 21 February 2017 to find out how it gets such good results.
Managers from NHS England and the Department for Work and Pensions are meeting with the Enable supported employment service to hear about its fantastic results in getting people with mental health problems into work. Over the last nine months, the team at Enable have exceeded their targets of placing individuals into long-term sustainable employment, supporting over 80 individuals into paid work – surpassing their original target by 50%.
Organisations and groups who provide services or activities in Shrewsbury that benefit people’s health and well-being, are invited to come to a Social Prescribing event in Shrewsbury on Tuesday 19 June 2018.
The Social Prescribing information and sharing workshops will be hosted at the Gateway Centre, Chester Street, Shrewsbury at 12.30pm-2.30pm, and 3pm–5pm.
