Alarmstufe Rot am City Airport: Das Regierungspräsidium in Karlsruhe will die Starts und Landungen kleinerer Flugzeuge und Hubschrauber zeitlich einschränken. Dazu hat die Luftaufsichtsbehörde aus Lärmschutzgründen vor gut einem Jahr ihre 2010 erteilten Ausnahmegenehmigungen für Flugbewegungen über Neuostheim widerrufen. Dagegen klagt jetzt die städtische "Tochter" Rhein-Neckar Flugplatzgesellschaft vor dem Verwaltungsgerichtshof (VGH) Baden-Württemberg.
Durch die Bruchlandung einer Cessna auf dem City Airport am 25. November rückt der Neuostheimer Flugplatz wieder in die Diskussion. Dabei spielen nicht nur Sicherheitsaspekte eine Rolle.
Die Diskussion um die Zukunft des City Airports in Neuostheim geht weiter. Nach der Bruchlandung einer Cessna Ende November haben Kommunalpolitiker wieder den Militärflugplatz der US-Armee im Mannheimer Norden als Alternative ins Gespräch gebracht.
Die Jahre des regionalen Flugbetriebs in Neuostheim sind gezählt. Neue Richtlinien der Europäischen Union werden in Zukunft den Betrieb auf dem Flugplatz weiter einschränken.
Für 1,1 Millionen Euro hatte der Flugplatz im vergangenen August seine Start- und Landebahn auf Vordermann bringen lassen - doch mit dem Ergebnis ist Flugplatz-Geschäftsführer Reinhard Becker nicht zufrieden.
Ab Mai gelten für die amerikanischen Streitkräfte im Norden der Stadt wieder verlängerte Flugzeiten - und das bedeutet auch Hubschrauberflüge spät abends oder sogar nachts.
Alle Jahre wieder bekommt der City Airport Mannheim den Mängelstern der Pilotenvereinigung Cockpit. Das sorgt bei Flugplatz-Geschäftsführer Reinhard Becker und seinem Flugleiter Dirk Eggert jedes Mal für Kopfschütteln - und auch für ziemlichen Ärger.
Zur Diskussion über eine Alternative zum Neuostheimer Flugplatz meldete sich CDU-Stadtrat Nikolas Löbel: "Die Stadtverwaltung muss endlich die Karten auf den Tisch legen und ihre Vorstellungen für einen neuen City Airport aufzeigen.
