Mehrere zehntausend Menschen haben in Hannover gegen die transatlantischen Freihandelsabkommen TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) und CETA (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) demonstriert. Die Veranstalter, ein Bündnis von Sozial- und Umweltschutzinitiativen, Gewerkschaften, Hilfsorganisationen, politischen Parteien und weiteren Organisationen, zählten 90.000 Demonstranten. Die Polizei schätzte die Teilnehmerzahl auf 35.000. Mehr als 130 Organisationen hatten zur Teilnahme aufgerufen.

Die Demonstrationen gegen das geplante Freihandelsabkommen TTIP am Sonnabend auf dem Opernplatz scheinen immer mehr anzuwachsen: Die Zahl der Demonstrationen hat sich von sechs auf acht erhöht, sagte eine Sprecherin der Polizeidirektion Hannover. Insgesamt werden damit nun rund 56.000 Teilnehmer erwartet.
