Enterprise Content Management (ECM) ist für CIOs mehr Pflicht als Kür. In einer Umfrage der Frankfurter Unternehmensberatung Pentadoc nannte eine Mehrheit von 55 Prozent der Befragten Compliance als Hauptgrund für den ECM-Einsatz. Weitere Gründe sind E-Mail-Management (54 Prozent) sowie Posteingangs- und Rechnungsbearbeitung (46 beziehungsweise 41 Prozent). Zum Vergleich: Wissensmanagement kommt nur auf 31 Prozent der Nennungen.
The study found that:
* 60 percent of CIOs surveyed say they are working to adopt an information management strategy to gain competitive advantage.
* 75 percent of CIOs surveyed expect to have an information management strategy in place within three years. Data analytics will be an area of particular focus.
* Integrating all types of data is a goal for most companies. While only 38 percent of respondents say they are partially integrated now, 75 percent list integration as their target.

Darüber hinaus geben 79 Prozent an, ihre Arbeit sei durch die enge Verzahnung von IT- und Geschäftsstrategie geprägt.
