The term “Semantic Search” is certainly not new. However, it has taken on a new dimension and implications in both search and social engines today. In addition, it has had a strong impact on targeted semantic advertising.
Concept search, full-text search and annotation structure search in one scaleable index: "Mímir is a multi-paradigm information management index and repository which can be used to index and search over text, annotations, semantic schemas (ontologies), and semantic meta-data (instance data). It allows queries that arbitrarily mix full-text, structural, linguistic and semantic queries and that can scale to gigabytes of text. A typical semantic annotation project deals with large quantities of data of different kinds. Mímir provides a framework for implementing indexing and search functionality across all these data type."
In the heydays of the internet - when Google wasn’t the only search engine people used to seek information on the web - web surfers (I bet you haven’t heard that term in a while) had several options for finding what they needed on the net.
While Lucene has long offered these capabilities, its native capabilities are not intended for large semi-structured document collections (or documents with very different schemas). For this reason we developed SIREn - Semantic Information Retrieval Engine - a Lucene plugin to overcome these shortcomings and efficiently index and query RDF, as well as any textual document with an arbitrary amount of metadata fields.
develops the novel search ranking algorithm based on auto discovered and topic focused expert pages, and the innovative result presentation interface with discussion threads. Given a list of search result, PopGist discovers topic specific expert pages, fetches pages in the result list, analyzes them in multiple dimensions and detects spam pages, then reranks and presents them in threaded format. PopGist improves the relevancy of the existing search engines and provides better user search experience.”
04. Mai 2009 Wer Google fragt, erhält Links. Wer Wolfram Alpha fragt, bekommt Antworten.
Social search, which may be the defining quality of Google's next generation of search products, is any search that is aided by a social interactions or connections.
