Seit der Verabschiedung des international umstrittenen ungarischen Mediengesetzes im vergangenen Dezember ist die neue Medienbehörde NMHH in aller Munde. Kritiker werfen dem rechtskonservativen Kabinett von Viktor Orban vor, mittels dieser Behörde die Medien in Ungarn vollkommen unter die Kontrolle der von dessen Partei FIDESZ-MPSZ dominierten Regierung bringen zu wollen.
Die Tadel zeigen Wirkung: Ungarns Regierung, die mit einem neuen Mediengesetz kürzlich die Kontrolle über Journalisten verschärft hat, lenkt nach Kritik aus Brüssel ein. Premier Orbán kündigte an, eine Überprüfung durch die EU zu akzeptieren - allerdings formulierte er gleich Bedingungen.

Medienregulierungsbehörde: Wegen "reißerischer" und "für jugendliche Seher schockierender" Berichterstattung über Brudermord
Budapest - Die seit Jahresbeginn mit ungewöhnlich starken Vollmachten ausgestattete Medienregulierungsbehörde NMHH hat ein Verfahren gegen den privaten Fernsehsender RTL Klub eingeleitet. Die Behörde beanstandet, dass die ungarische RTL-Tochter im Oktober des Vorjahres "reißerisch" und auf "für jugendliche Seher schockierende" Weise über einen brutalen Brudermord in einem südungarischen Dorf berichtet hätte, meldeten ungarische Medien am Dienstag. Zur "Störung der Ruhe selbst erwachsener Fernsehzuschauer" hätte außerdem beigetragen, dass eine blutbefleckte Matratze im Bild zu sehen gewesen sei.
Zur Begründung griff der Medienrat [extern] NMHH auf eine angebliche Jugendgefährdung zurück, was durchaus als indirekter diplomatischer Wink an Deutschland verstanden werden darf: Die Bundesrepublik [local] zensiert nämlich (abgesehen vom Abmahnwesen) vor allem mittels sehr weit gefasster [local] Jugendschutzvorschriften, die zum 1. Januar noch einmal [local] wesentlich verschärft worden wären, wenn ein [local] Zusammenspiel von Unmut im Internet und politischer Taktiererei dies nicht überraschend in letzter Minute verhindert hätte. Viktor Orban hatte sogar explizit das Jugendschutzrecht genannt, als er im Dezember darlegte, warum das neue ungarische Mediengesetz seiner Auffassung nach "kein Element [enthält], dass es nicht im Mediensystem in irgendeinem europäischen Land gibt" und deshalb genau in die von der EU mit geschaffene Rechtslandschaft passt.
Die ungarische Medienbehörde NMHH hat die Erweiterung ihrer Befugnisse durch das neue ungarische Mediengesetz gleich am ersten Tag seiner Geltung genutzt, um ein Verfahren gegen den Budapester Privatsender Tilos Radio einzuleiten - wegen eines „jugendgefährdenden“ Rap-Textes.

Die inoffizielle WikileaksApp (über Google Cache erreichbar) wurde um 1,99 US-Dollar von Entwickler Igor Barinov angeboten, die Entfernung wurde ohne Angabe von bestimmten Gründen vorgenommen, berichtet der Branchenblog TechCrunch.
