Für die Umstellung der Studiengänge auf Bachelor- und Masterabschlüsse im Zuge der Internationalisierung und Umwandlung nationaler Hochschulsysteme in einen einheitlichen Hochschulraum Europa stellt die Herstellung von Geschlechtergerechtigkeit eine besondere Herausforderung dar.
Das haben auch die europäischen BildungsministerInnen erkannt. Sie beschlossen 2003 in ihrem ‚Berliner Kommuniqué', dass soziale und geschlechtsspezifische Ungleichheit im Zuge des Bologna-Prozesses abzubauen sei. Die Umsetzung dieser Zielsetzung steht noch aus. Sie kann nur gelingen, wenn der Abbau sozialer und geschlechtsspezifischer Ungleichheit auf internationaler und nationaler Ebene und auch von den Bundesländern und Hochschulen als zentrale Aufgabe gesehen und der Bologna-Prozess im Sinne des Gender-Mainstreaming-Konzeptes durchgeführt wird.
