Um das T-Online-Shopping-Portal Einkaufswelt lebendiger erscheinen zu lassen wurden Hunderte angeblicher Kundenbewertungen durch eine Textagentur erstellt. Gegenüber dem Spiegel machte die Telekom einen übereifrigen Dienstleister verantwortlich, der damit über das Ziel hinausgeschossen sei. Erstellt wurden die unechten Einkaufswelt-Kundenrezensionen von der Agentur Textprovider, die sich offiziell darauf spezialisiert hat, Produktbeschreibungen zu optimieren. Textprovider wollte dem Spiegel gegenüber zwar keine Stellungnahme abgeben, der Redaktion des Nachrichtenmagazins beruft sich aber auf eine interne Mail des Unternehmens. Insgesamt 1.000 Texte, zwischen 80 und 180 Wörter lang, soll die Agentur geliefert haben.
