Modern Economy (ME) is an international journal dedicated to the latest advancement of all areas of international economics. The goal of this journal is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in different areas of modern economy.
Some definitions key on the question of the probability of encountering a given condition of a system once characteristics of the system are specified. Warren Weaver has posited that the complexity of a particular system is the degree of difficulty in predicting the properties of the system if the properties of the system’s parts are given. In Weaver’s view, complexity comes in two forms: disorganized complexity, and organized complexity. [2] Weaver’s paper has influenced contemporary thinking about complexity. [3]
A successful one-week short course on Complex Systems Beyond the Metaphor: Your Mathematical Toolset was held in the UNSW School of Mathematics and Statistics on Feb 5-9, 2007. It introduced the mathematical foundations and tools needed for a solid understanding of complex systems, an area often known for purely metaphorical or 'hand-waving' explanations. Aiming at a mathematically literate audience (e.g. engineers, quantitative biologists, computer modellers), leading Australian experts presented intensive introductions to the essential topics of complex systems theory, including self-organization, nonlinear dynamical systems, cellular automata, networks and statistical learning.
The Complex Systems Registry is an Open Source federative platform that has been developed within the FET coordination action Open Network of Centres of Excellence in Complex Systems (ONCE-CS) within the framework of the Complex Systems Society.
The aims of this initiative are
* to become the main Information Hub for the Complex Systems Community,
* to offer pre-installed Web facilities to all institutions, projects, working groups, ... of the Complex Systems Community,
* to guarantee the inter-operability between all installed Web sites.
