HeiDOK ist eine Open Access-Plattform, die den Angehörigen der Universität und der Pädagogischen Hochschule Heidelberg die Möglichkeit bietet, kostenlos im Internet zu publizieren. Auf HeiDOK veröffentlichte Dokumente werden mit standardisierten Adressen (URN) und Metadaten (OAI-PMH) dauerhaft zitierfähig archiviert. Dadurch sind sie über die gängigen Suchmaschinen, wie google, google scholar, sowie fachspezifische Suchmaschinen und verschiedene Bibliothekskataloge weltweit recherchierbar.
